American Idol

I  got sucked into American Idol when Kris Allen was a contestant.  I’d heard that the worship leader for our friends Chi Alpha group in Arkansas was competing.  It was a  surprise to watch Kirs all the way though to his big win.  It’s also probably the only time I’ve ever voted for anyone on AI.

The thing I like about this show is that it gives any ordinary person off the street an opportunity to fufill a dream.

Check out this video of Carrie Underwood’s audition on American Idol:

I’ve not had the opportunity to watch  much of season 10 but the same story will repeat itself this week.  Some one who basically walked in off of the street will be given the opportunity to share their God-given talent through concert tours, interviews, and producing at least one album.  Both of this years final contestants posted Philippians 4:13 ” I can do all things through Christ who strengthens me” as their favorite quote.   Surely the finalist only hoped they’d make it this far in the competition.  Actually arriving there must feel like a dream.  A dream they will never regret taking a chance on.

I was inspired to write my devotional book This Is Jesus after watching Kirs Allen win season 8.  It wasn’t because I wanted to become famous or make big bucks,  it was because I had this realization that dreams were attainable.  Instead of waiting for someday maybe I decided why not now?

It’s easy to hide or suppress a dream, but maybe today God is awakening it….perhaps this is the time to write your words or sing your song.  What has God placed in your hand that can be used to further His kingdom?  Chances are it’s something you’ve dreamt about.

Eccleasiastes 3:11

“11 He has made everything beautiful in its time. He has also set eternity in the human heart; yet[a] no one can fathom what God has done from beginning to end.”

Prayer:  Jesus help me  fulfill the dream’s you’ve given me, so that others will find an eternal destiny with you too.
