The Final Day

I haven’t been too caught up with Harold Camping or his prediction that the rapture would occur on this day.  One thing I can say for this group is that they have succeeded in generating a lot of talk about “The End.”   The bible clearly says that, “No man know the day or the hour”  that Jesus will return.  I have to admit, I’m still working through my own end times theology.  It’s a topic that’s caused a lot of debate in the christian church for centuries.  My former pastor said he holds to the “Pan Theology”  meaning that it will all pan out!

With all the  debate, these are some truths that I hold fast to:

1) God is good, kind, loving, and just.   He is jealous for us, and desires to see many enter the Kingdom of Heaven.

2) He will return for His bride.  No one, not even Jesus, knows the day or the hour.

3) We would do well to anticipate and look forward to His coming.

It would be good for us to have our hands on the plow.  There is work to be done before His appearing. May we be sensitive to His voice and obey all that He is calling us to in this hour.

5) That Day will be unlike any other.  It will be glorious beyond imagination.  He will right every wrong and wipe away every tear.  I can’t wait!

Hebrews 12:1-3

” 1 Therefore, since we are surrounded by such a great cloud of witnesses, let us throw off everything that hinders and the sin that so easily entangles. And let us run with perseverance the race marked out for us, 2 fixing our eyes on Jesus, the pioneer and perfecter of faith. For the joy set before him he endured the cross, scorning its shame, and sat down at the right hand of the throne of God. 3 Consider him who endured such opposition from sinners, so that you will not grow weary and lose heart.”

Prayer: Jesus help me to be ready for your appearing.  I want to use my time wisely and invest my life in what will count for eternity.  Protect me from life’s distractions and help me  stay focused on what you have set before me.  May I be faithful with all you have given me.   Help your bride to prepare and be ready for your appearing.  Amen.
