Greg and his friends decided to ski the head wall at Moonlight this past weekend. I’ve skied all my life, but the desire to ski that terrain has yet to come upon me. It’s steep and more difficult to navigate. I’d rather ski the stuff I’m comfortable with and not have to work that hard.
Greg loved the experience and will likely do it again. There’s a rush that comes with adventure. I might not be willing to ski the tip-top of the mountain physically, but I do want to live “mountain top experiences” in my spiritual life. My Pastor wrote a book titled “Living Beyond Safe And Easy” the title says a lot.
I love the dialogue between Lucy and the Beavers in the Lion The Witch And The Wardrobe:
“Then he isn’t safe?” said Lucy.
“Safe?” said Mr. Beaver; “don’t you hear what Mrs. Beaver tells you? Who said anything about safe? ‘Course he isn’t safe. But he’s good. He’s the king I tell you.”
The life Jesus lived was way beyond safe and easy. As His disciple, He is calling me to take up my cross and walk a similar path. It’s not always easy, but it will be worth it.
Acts 4:29 (New International Version, ©2011)
29 Now, Lord, consider their threats and enable your servants to speak your word with great boldness.
Prayer: Lord help me to follow you where ever you lead me. Give me greater courage, boldness, and love. You are worthy!
