My friend Teresa’s funeral was yesterday. I felt a little schizophrenic, rejoicing that she’s in an amazing place now, and grieving because I will miss her. It was an exhausting and significant day. After the service we went back to her husband Rob’s home. I couldn’t help but take pictures of “her”. Teresa left her mark all over their home, including what she wrote on this chalk board:
My prayer now is that her legacy will live on in those of us who knew her. Teresa was a faithful intercessor who looked forward to what God was going to do with expectancy. She knew her God was good, kind, loving, merciful, holy, and too big to comprehend. She sought after Him and applied what she was learning. I saw her grow and become more like Jesus in the 20 years I knew her. I can’t wait to see her again someday, but until then I want to live life more fully because of her example.
This was her favorite scripture in the past few months:
Jeremiah 29:11 (New International Version, ©2010)
11 For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the LORD, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.
Prayer: Lord thank you that you fulfilled this promise to Teresa. Your promises are yes, and amen. I am so thankful for the eternal life you purchased for me. Help me to live my life on purpose, to not take things for granted, and to glorify you at all times. Thank you for Teresa’s life!
